The Computing and Information Technology Directorate works to re-imagine how digital technologies can simplify the research experience, enable data-driven insights for decision makers, and accelerate PNNL’s research missions. Our Identity and Access Management team is seeking a motivated and skilled Identity & Access Specialist to join our Digital Operations division’s Cloud Data group. The successful candidate will be responsible for automating processes, handling tickets, customer support, and supporting the identity management infrastructure. Candidates possess a strong understanding of IT engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Additional responsibilities include governance, security, and documentation to support business operations and identity lifecycle requirements. Success in this role means delivering results through strong technical skills, communications, and collaboration with a relentless focus on what’s best for our users and the business. Applies engineering and technical principles to the design and development of computer networks, cyber security infrastructure, telecommunications, information technology systems and tools, and database systems. Analyzes, installs, integrates, modifies, and supports all associated systems, networks, software, and databases. Plans and conducts projects after analysis of functional and operational requirements. May consult with and lead cross-functional teams. Ensure the seamless operation and security of identity management systems by automating processes, resolving technical issues, and providing exceptional support to stakeholders. Apply engineering, automation, and technical solutions for PNNL’s on-premises and cloud-based identity systems such as Entra, Active Directory, M365, ICAM, and PKI.

Requirements

  • BS/BA or higher

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Power Apps, etc)
  • Experience with identity management systems in an Enterprise Environment (e.g., Active Directory, Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Okta)
  • Knowledge of identity management principles and technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve challenging technical problems with innovative solutions.
  • Customer service oriented and approachable.
  • Exceptional communicator with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated identity workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Handle and resolve tickets related to identity management, account creation, and other related tasks.
  • Document processes and workflows to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity.
  • Ensure compliance and security by adhering to relevant regulations, policies, and industry best practice.
  • Monitor user access and activity
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues using Splunk or KQL
  • May consult with and participate in cross-functional teams
