About The Position

The IDEA Curriculum Coordinator plans and coordinates the development of curriculum objectives for grades 3-12 Special Education as well as generally oversees the development, implementation and assessment of teacher developed customized lessons, activities, assessments and tools for these grades. Coordinates the development of curriculum objectives for grades 3-12 Special Education; Monitors the implementation and evaluation of these objectives; Plans and monitors teacher development and implementation of customized lessons, activities, assessments and tools for these grades including special populations; Evaluates effectiveness of the material; Supports course audits ensuring alignment to state standards. Develops and aligns curriculum, assessments, and instructional materials to state standards Ensures instructional programs meet all state and federal guidelines, including those for special populations (e.g., GT, ELL, Special Education). Collaborates with teachers and administrators to design formative and summative assessments. Mentors/acts as a resource to teachers by providing expertise and ongoing support; Conducts curriculum meetings as required; Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. Requirements

  • Three (3) years of teaching experience
  • Curriculum Design experience
  • Working knowledge of Texas state standards (TEKS)
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
  • Web proficiency
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Texas Teaching Certificate Residency Requirements: TEXAS

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Curriculum
  • Experience developing curriculum and assessment
  • Experience with building High Quality Instructional Materials for the classroom
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience teaching or leading in an online setting
