This position provides support for the daily activities in the Set-up Process department.

Responsibilities

• Must follow and enforce Silgan Safety, Quality and GMP policies.
• Able to support Silgan Penn Yan with stretch blow processing issues in the manufacturing of plastic containers.
• Able to effectively communicate with plant process set up technicians to resolve issues.
• Capable of assisting process engineers by applying plastic processing knowledge and experience to evaluate new products and make design recommendations to improve process capability.
• Ability to read and understand product part drawings and specifications and fully understand what features are critical to part function and performance.
• Able to provide independent recommendations for product design or process changes to improve product or processes based on Manufacturing needs.
• Ability to troubleshooting on stretch blow molding equipment and support technicians when break downs occur or containers are not running to quality standards.
• Troubleshoot bottle and jar defects.
• Perform preventative maintenance on tooling quality.
• Operate forklift.
• Operate production equipment in stretch blow molding machines i.e. USB’s and Aoki’s, Jomar, Uniloy
• Perform and assist in production machinery change overs and process set ups.
• Work closely with and support company process engineers to help develop new processes and new containers.
• Determine optimum processes to meet product performance requirements.
• Work closely with color suppliers and customer service to ensure success on all future color orders. run all new color samples.
• Some heavy lifting-up to 80 lbs.
• Leak detector knowledge a plus
