About The Position

Within the spirit of “Making People’s Dreams Come True”, this position is responsible for analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing computer system by performing the essential duties listed below. This position additionally, will keep abreast of current software development techniques, new operating system, database, and language enhancements; disseminate knowledge to colleagues on a routine and regular basis. These duties are accomplished while delivering Raving Fans customer service to both internal and external customers. Full Time, On Site Position

Requirements

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two (2) year college or technical school; or five (5) to eight (8) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master of programming language and theory with excellent debugging skills.
  • Required Languages: IBM i platform, Languages: RPG, CL, ILE, and OPM
  • Required Database: DB2 for IBM i, via SQL and RLA

  • Ability to understand, design, code, and execute REST services.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, and maintain software running on the IBM i platform.
  • Confer with customers and colleagues to analyze operational procedures and process flow, identify issues, problems, and milestones; and develop requirements.
  • Ability to document detailed descriptions of user needs and steps required to develop or modify code.
  • Maintain current expertise in technologies and trends.
  • Prepare and present information to colleagues and management with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Continuous personal and professional development.
  • Participate in all phases of the development lifecycle from planning, testing, and deployment, and communicate as needed along the way.
  • Responsible for decision‐making and assuming accountability for those decisions.
  • Guide other IBM i Programmers/Analysts during new project/system development.
  • Work with DBA to define requirements for new projects/systems.
  • Continuously improves/refactors the quality and structure of previously written code.
  • Seek continuing education opportunities that relate to the development lifecycle and languages necessary to perform job‐related tasks.
  • All other duties as assigned.
