About The Position

The IACT (Inspired, Activated, Committed, Transformed) Birthright and Student Life Coordinator at Northeastern Hillel focuses on immersive Israel experiences, specifically recruiting, coordinating, and running Northeastern Hillel Birthright trips as well as general student engagement. Additionally, the IACT Birthright and Student Life Coordinator manages and supervises the Israel Engagement Interns who recruit for Birthright through one-on-one coffee chats centered around Birthright interest and Hillel involvement and also plan events and assist with pre-trip and post-trip engagement. It is vital that our IACT Birthright and Student Life Coordinator also works with our student leaders, interns, and student micro communities at Northeastern Hillel. They advise students, teach learning fellowships, and generally engage the Northeastern University Hillel community as a member of our Student Life team. The goal is for them to build authentic relationships with students that connect them to our Hillel, the Jewish community, and Israel. They inspire students to be passionate about Israel by meeting them where they’re at. The IACT Birthright and Student Life Coordinator connects Israel to students’ interests and passions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and 0 – 3 years of professional work experience
  • Prior travel experience to Israel and familiarity with Israeli society and culture

Responsibilities

  • Recruit 80 students for 2 Birthright Israel buses each academic year, 1 in the summer and 1 in the winter
  • Serve as primary staff for Birthright Israel trips each season; recruit, coordinate and train remaining Birthright Israel trip staff members from the NU community
  • Serve as a thought partner and entrepreneurial leader for Northeastern Hillel’s student life team and engagement strategy
  • Manage Northeastern Hillel’s Birthright Israel program including recruitment, interviews, pre-trip orientations, and improving the trip experience
  • Manage participant relationships and communication by fielding all participant questions and concerns
  • Work closely with trip provider, Israel Outdoors, to establish trip dates, flights, number of Northeastern buses/season, activities, and BICEP programming
  • Create post-trip community through reunion events and connecting trip alumni to programming at Hillel
  • Manage a team of Birthright Israel recruitment interns to reach a large and diverse Jewish student population
  • Produce all marketing materials for recruitment and communication before the trip
  • Oversee the IACT Birthright Budget and provide oversight for the use of funds by student interns
  • Connect students with other programs in Israel (Onward, Masa, etc.)
  • Assist with the planning and execution of FreshFest for incoming students in August
  • Advise student leaders and assist these students with the planning, development, budgeting, and execution of their programs and initiatives
  • Maintain records of events and attendance for measurement and ongoing evaluation, website, weekly emails, and social media.
  • Teach a section of the Jewish Learning fellowship each semester
  • Build 225 personal relationships with students who are not already involved in Hillel.
  • Connect students to Hillel through individual coffee conversations, and serving as a mentor and friend to students
  • Attend staff meetings and participate with regular supervision with Assistant Director
  • Collaborate with other Hillel staff to help shape and develop the mission of Northeastern Hillel
  • Participate as a member of the Hillel staff team in weekly programs, Shabbat, and holidays activities.

  • Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $55,000.
