I&T Data Analytics Specialist Senior

About The Position

Provides data management and analysis services to various city departments. Design and implement data, research and analytics projects that improve city services, inform decisions, and promote community engagement. Cultivates and advances the use of data and evidence to support collaborative problem-solving across the organization. Implement business process improvement projects related to data sharing across the organization.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Software/technology that aid in data collection, analysis, and presentation (e.g., SQL, Python, Tableau, Excel, Power BI, SSRS, SPSS/SAS/R, ArcGIS, etc.)
  • Various source systems and data retrieval processes
  • Research design and basic statistical methods
  • Business process documentation
  • Municipal operations, departmental business needs and programs, and city strategy/community goals
  • Skill in: Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships
  • Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios
  • Ability to: Meet schedules and deadlines of the work
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions
  • Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Interpret user groups’ needs and see path from idea to identifying project outcomes
  • Develop and implement tutorials and how-to documentation
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent and five (5) years of related work experience Or 2 Year College Degree and Three (3) years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Level Degree and one (1) year of related work experience OR or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provides data management and analytics services to departments.
  • Transforms data into actionable information and knowledge for city departments.
  • Applies a broad range of analytic techniques and approaches to support collaborative problem-solving across the organization – e.g., data analysis, data visualization, dashboarding, querying, GIS, statistical analysis, business process modelling, program evaluation, behavioral science.
  • Promotes the City’s use of shared data and works with partners to strengthen the internal data community and promote the use of city data with community and external stakeholders.
  • Provides analytical and tactical support for research and analytics projects, including providing data that is accurate and reliable and integrating and preparing large, varied datasets from internal and external sources for analysis and visualization.
  • Designs and executes citywide special projects that combine data and processes into insights that improve decision-making ability.
  • Provides as-needed data analysis in support of special projects.
  • Presents outcomes and insights through written reports and visual representations.
  • Coordinate and support program evaluation, outcome measurement, and performance management efforts across multiple disciplines.
  • Maintains and develops existing data products, dashboards, and map projects.
  • Performs related work as required.
