About The Position

What You'll Be Doing Job Scope: The Turnaround I&E Engineer is responsible for technical support and scope development of I&E instrument / low-voltage electrical under general supervision in Freeport, TX. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Lead the scope definition and development process for I&E items identified in SAP, including identifying the root cause of issues and troubleshooting (equipment test and repair/replace scope). Support scope definition and detailed engineering for TAR executed capital projects, as assigned Check capital project packages for TAR executed work. Any I/E related projects with TAR execution must be thoroughly checked for accuracy and fit to unit strategies. Commissioning documentation for any projects we install during the TAR Evaluate PM and spare part strategy, including completion of gap assessment, for key I&E equipment and ensure quotes are provided to TAR Team to order and meet TAR milestones. Will evaluate lead times for replacement vs repairs of I&E items then will recommend path forward Provide SIS and Non-SIS instrumentation and control valve scope of work – ensure information is written up in SAP Provide technical expertise for MOC on all the new control valves specified. Work closely with SIS engineer on strategy and to gather the information so SIL calculations can be updated. Gather all paperwork for new parts (data sheets, manuals, SIL certificate, functional safety manuals, test reports, etc) and update the master data files. Facilitate leakage testing of every SIS ON/OFF valve to gather leakage data for maintenance history. Ensure proper tagging of replacement SIS components. Maintain records of all technical specifications and as provided vendor data (calibration records, test records, etc.) and digitally file as per direction of I&E maintenance engineer. Work with SIS engineer and block I/E to ensure all SIS testing is performed and documented. Review job packages generated by TAR group for I/E work. Review schedule generated by TAR group for I/E work. Validate the receipt of the I&E materials to ensure they are per specification. Ideal Background Education: Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university is required. Registration: Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred. Experience: Requires 3+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and application of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment. Ability to perform lighting level calculations. Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications. Ability to perform voltage drop calculations. Ability to route conduit and cable tray. Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill. Ability to determine motor control center loading. Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings. Ability to determine load center unit substation loading. (Instrumentation) Ability to size control valves using appropriate software. (Instrumentation) Ability to develop specifications and data sheets for instrumentation, analyzers, control systems and actuated valves. (Instrumentation) Familiarity with standards that apply to instrumentation and controls (ISA). Ability to develop equipment specifications for equipment such as motor control centers, variable frequency drivers, induction and synchronous motors, load center unit substations. Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables. Ability to develop a construction cost estimate, a detailed engineering schedule and a man-hour budget for a small project or an area for a larger project. Ability to determine construction material quantities. Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards. Working knowledge of CAD software, either AutoCAD, Microstation or both. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Good presentation skills. Virtual team skills.
