About The Position

The I/E/C Specialist is a senior, hands-on technical role responsible for supporting construction completion, commissioning, startup, and early operations of a growing portfolio of Renewable Natural Gas facilities. This position is a field-forward individual contributor role, acting as the technical bridge between Engineering, Construction, and Operations to ensure systems are safe, functional, maintainable, and ready for long-term operations. This role requires extensive travel and direct engagement at active construction and operating sites. The I/E/C Specialist operates with significant autonomy while remaining tightly aligned with Operations leadership and project teams.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of hands-on I/E/C experience in RNG, oil & gas, power generation, chemical, or similar industrial environments
  • Strong field experience with PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, MCCs, VFDs, and industrial plant power systems
  • Proven experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, and early operations
  • Practical, execution-focused mindset with strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple disciplines
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively as required by project needs
  • Candidates must demonstrate practical familiarity with industrial automation systems, examples include: PLCs: Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), Siemens (S7), or equivalent HMIs / SCADA: FactoryTalk View, Ignition, Wonderware/AVEVA, or similar Communications: Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP & RTU, Profibus/Profinet, serial, fiber, radio, cellular telemetry Ability to navigate logic, troubleshoot I/O and communications faults, and support controlled logic changes under MOC
  • Candidates are expected to understand how the process operates and how instrumentation impacts safety, compliance, and uptime.

  • Includes experience with: Sample conditioning systems Calibration gas handling and validation Analyzer shelter integration
  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage industrial power systems
  • Troubleshooting MCCs, motor starters, and control panels
  • Configuration and diagnostics of VFDs for blowers, compressors, and pumps
  • Ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, loop diagrams, and control drawings
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications (Class I, Div 1 / Div 2)
  • Proven experience supporting facilities from drawings through operation, including: Panel inspections, cable terminations, instrument installations, and punchlist resolution Loop checks, functional testing, interlock and cause-and-effect verification Startup troubleshooting, nuisance trip resolution, alarm tuning, and early-life reliability improvements

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on I/E/C support during construction closeout, commissioning, and startup
  • Verify installations, support loop checks, FAT/SAT activities, and startup readiness
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical, PLC, and HMI issues in the field
  • Support transition from construction to operations with a focus on reliability, safety, and maintainability
  • Assist site teams in resolving complex I/E/C issues during early operations
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective actions related to control or electrical failures
  • Work directly with Engineering, Construction, Operations, vendors, and site leadership
  • Provide practical, field-driven feedback on designs, drawings, and constructability
  • Serve as a technical liaison to ensure design intent aligns with operational reality
  • Train and mentor plant operators and technicians on I/E/C systems and troubleshooting
  • Help elevate site-level technical capability and reduce long-term dependency on external support
  • Support development and refinement of I/E/C standards, practices, and preferred equipment
  • Identify opportunities to simplify systems, improve reliability, and enhance maintainability
