The I&C (Instrumentation & Controls) Systems Engineering Manager works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH) Engineering organization. The I&C Systems team is responsible for designing and implementing I&C systems for Nuclear Power Plants. The I&C systems team has strong interfaces between electronic hardware design, software design and plant system operations. This role requires technical problem solving, I&C systems, electronic hardware, software, and effective communication/collaboration skills with other teams within the GE Vernova Hitachi (GVH) business functions.

  • Ownership and accountability for I&C analog and digital electronic systems designs for engineering activities that support GVH Nuclear spanning the entire GVH portfolio.
  • Responsible for driving GVH's Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) standards and all Environmental Health and Safety activities/requirements related to the team.
  • Responsible for team Corrective Action Program (CAP) activities and implement all necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs.
  • Accountable for team Key Performance Indicators (KPI) forecast accuracy and corrective measures as appropriate.
  • Responsible for bid management activities ensuring engineering deliverables are well defined, estimates and resource loaded schedules are developed and risks identified and documented.
  • Accountability for delivering products and services on-time and on-budget.
  • Responsible for team resource planning and project/program assignments.
  • Work collaboratively across the engineering matrix and with business leaders in Product Development, Project Delivery, Sourcing and Quality to ensure close coordination of technical inputs/outputs, project/product requirements, workforce planning/scheduling and risk management.
  • Accountable for team individual development and knowledge management activities.
  • Ownership to streamline, integrate and develop team technical and management processes to better support business needs across the organization through Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology.
  • Act as a technical liaise with customers, partner organizations and suppliers as necessary and in close partnership/coordination with Product Development and Project Delivery leaders.
  • Partner with business teams and presents product/program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leads across GVH.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering Discipline (Electrical/Computer Programming or similar).
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in a technology or engineering role.
  • Knowledge and experience with Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) I&C systems functionality, schematic design, electronic hardware design, printed circuit board layout, and manufacturing.
  • Operating at a senior level within the organization.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated people management and motivation skills.
  • Master's degree or PhD in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Experience managing highly technical and diverse Engineering teams and functions.
  • Strong Leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of working within a regulated environment (nuclear).
  • Knowledge of quality standards and systems (e.g., NQA-1 and ISO 9000).
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Strong problem solving abilities.
  • Prior experience in project delivery and working within a matrix environment.
  • Strong customer mindset.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and cope under pressure.
  • Six Sigma training is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
