Requirements

  • Current license or certification is required in one of the following areas: National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician, Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN), Registered Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Hyperbaric Technologist, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent, Surgical Technologist
  • Attendance of the Introductory to Hyperbaric Medicine Course is required.
  • Must be able to take the Certified Hyperbaric Technologist examination as soon as feasible upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and basic wound care to patients of Department of Hyperbaric Medicine, under the supervision of a hyperbaric physician. All therapeutic and diagnostic modalities will be ordered by the hyperbaric physician.
  • Perform daily chamber opening and closing duties and document per policy.
  • Perform quality control daily on department glucometer, or as required by policy.
  • Clean and maintain equipment according to infection control standards.
  • Maintain equipment and check backup air and oxygen supplies on a daily basis and document per policy.
  • Document treatment notes and maintain patient treatment/diagnostic records.
  • Ensure accuracy of all forms and reports.
  • Complete the patient's treatment charges, if required.
  • Maintain continuous quality improvement duties and chart audits.
  • Interface personally and telephonically with hospital staff, employees and family members.
  • Answer telephone inquiries and schedule patient treatment times.
  • Perform marketing duties as needed, intra- and interdepartmental.
  • Perform an inventory check and maintain a record of supplies and laundry items and update daily par levels.
  • Perform Electronic Medical Record documentation into system and collate reports as requested by the director.
  • Perform various other duties such as dressing breakdowns and assist with relocating patients from wheelchairs to gurneys.
  • Assist with positional adjustments of the patient during wound care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and orderly environment for patients and visitors by performing assigned duties.
  • Model quality patient/customer services by demonstrating a willingness to serve all customers at all times, maintain an awareness of patient needs, and utilize initiative to respond to those needs within skill level and scope of practice.to ensure quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate willingness for self-improvement by collaborating with leadership to identify learning needs (reflective of the organization and of the individual) and seek instruction from appropriate sources.
  • Responsible for maintaining employee, patient and proprietary confidentiality.
