About The Position

SUMMARY: The Hydraulic Technician is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and testing hydraulic and pneumatic fluid power systems, manifold assemblies, and related mechanical components. This role requires proficiency in welding, mechanical assembly, and system integration. The technician will operate in a dynamic, prototype-driven environment, supporting both standard production and custom-built solutions. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure high-quality, customer-focused outcomes. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Interpret and follow engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, and work instructions to determine methods and sequence of operations for unit assembly. Collaborate with engineers to ensure accurate layout and configuration of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Assemble hydraulic power units, including pump/motor groups, valve assemblies, reservoir accessories, and related components. Assemble pneumatic systems, ensuring proper integration of valves, actuators, and control elements. Fabricate and weld mounts, ports, brackets, and stands to support system components and ensure structural integrity. Conduct functional testing of assembled units, complete test reports, and verify compliance with quality standards and customer specifications. Provide feedback to the design team regarding assembly processes and suggest improvements for future builds. Perform routine preventive maintenance and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S principles. Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and employee engagement. Train and mentor team members in assembly techniques and best practices as needed. Promote a collaborative and respectful team environment by supporting co-workers and sharing knowledge. Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Optimize workspace utilization and maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization. Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.

Requirements

  • Education equivalent to High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • A minimum of 2 years of 'hands-on' experience in the production of Hydraulic and/or Pneumatic Components and/or Applications.
  • Proficient in general welding techniques, including MIG and TIG welding.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a prototype and custom-build environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude; skilled in using hand tools and understanding mechanical hardware.
  • Demonstrates a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction and product quality.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration and documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented; capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on achieving high standards of excellence and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree, two year training program or combined equivalent education in a Technical Field or Industrial Training Program is desired.
  • Experience in an ISO9001 environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with industrial and manufacturing engineering principles; prior exposure preferred.
  • Experience working in a cell manufacturing environment with just-in-time (JIT) production methods is a plus.
