About The Position

The HVDC Electrical Field Engineering Technologist (FET) leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of complex quality systems across major engineering and infrastructure projects. This role provides strategic direction for quality planning and execution, ensures alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements, and delivers technical expertise in risk mitigation, process improvement, and quality assurance. Serving as a senior advisor to internal and external stakeholders, the position facilitates collaboration across disciplines, supports project audits and assessments, and develops strategies that optimize quality outcomes across design and construction lifecycles. The role also guides the implementation of tools, standards, and innovations that support a culture of quality excellence within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Quality Assurance, Statistics, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in project quality management or related areas.
  • High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Voltage Source Converter (VSC) or Line Commutated Converter (LCC) station experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree.
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide Quality oversight to verify the EPC Contractor(s) activities are executed in compliance with the project’s specifications, quality plan and requirements.
  • Inspect, verify and document activities associated with HV & MV yard, system grounding/testing, communication systems, protection systems and physical interface with adjacent projects.
  • Report to the Quality Manager and support owner’s representative as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully between trades workers, engineers and project management.
  • Represent the project with composure and professional candor.
  • Read and ensure full understanding of project related documents which include but not limited to the following: Scope of work, technical specifications, quality plans, safety and environmental plans.
  • Verify contractor’s quality assurance/quality control documentation is properly maintained on site and available on owner’s document control platform.
  • Conduct and document MV/HV quality assurance documentation.
  • Verify the EPC Contractor(s) instillation are in full compliance with the QA/QC standards and specifications. Record and report any deficiency or non compliance to the owner.
  • Coordinate with the EPC Contractor(s) and subcontractors to sort out and close NCRs.
  • Recommend acceptance of completed work on site.
  • Work collaboratively with site team to initiate the punch list, follow up and verify closure of open items.
  • Regularly witness the EPC contractor inspect all material delivered to site and verify they are stored in accordance with owner’s requirements and Manufacturers recommendations.
  • Recommend acceptance of EPCs documents regarding material delivered on site.
  • Provide the quality Manager with continuous updates on quality issues. This includes, but not limited to daily, weekly, monthly equipment deliveries, nonconformance reports, etc.
  • Coordinate communication between owner, EPC Contractor(s), site team, and/or suppliers as and when required.
  • Assist with testing and commissioning process.
  • Actively participate in EPC Contractor (s) All-hands safety meetings, plan of the day (POD), end of the day (EOD) and morning safety meetings.
  • Immediately report any injury or fatality to the Pattern Construction Manager. In the event of a life-threatening injury or a fatality, follow emergency notification procedure.
  • Ability to learn and utilize multiple document management programs.
