About The Position

Waygate Technologies, a global leader in non-destructive testing (NDT), is seeking an R&D Electrical Engineering Technologist for its Skaneateles, NY facility. This role involves designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic circuits for high-performance video borescopes, which are used in various global industries like jet engines, energy systems, and automotive applications. The integrated site in Skaneateles hosts R&D, manufacturing, software development, and repair teams. The Technologist will focus on creating next-generation portable Remote Visual Inspection (RVI) systems, prototyping, modifying and troubleshooting PCB designs, and collaborating with Mechanical, Software, and Production teams. The position also involves driving experimentation, validation, and technical documentation to ensure successful and timely program launches.

Requirements

  • Have experience in circuit board design and layout (preferably using the Altium ECAD toolset).
  • Have hands-on experience with circuit board testing and creation of automated test protocols.
  • Have proficiency in analyzing discrete and integrated analog circuits and digital logic design.
  • Have interest and capability to perform limited software development in C/C++ or Python to support experiments or microcontroller implementations.
  • Have working knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Have familiarity with wireless communication protocols and hardware.
  • Have proficiency in using common laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
  • Have strong problem‑solving and communication skills and be comfortable working in collaborative team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing the next generation of portable, world‑class video borescopes.
  • Performing schematic capture and layout for new PCBs and modifying existing designs.
  • Prototyping, assembling, and testing new board designs.
  • Modifying and troubleshooting PCBs, including component replacement/removal, jumper installation, etc.
  • Participating in project launch activities.
  • Performing troubleshooting, validation, testing, experimentation, and test reporting.
  • Creating and executing experiments to test new designs, often collaborating with Mechanical and Software teams to ensure on‑time program launches.
  • Documenting products and technical data in accordance with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Working with production personnel to resolve hardware issues in real time.
