About The Position

RTX Corporation is seeking a skilled and certified HVAC Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across our facilities. This position is essential to maintaining a safe, comfortable, and efficient work environment while supporting the overall operational performance of the site. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required with minimum 3 years of experience working as an HVAC Technician in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Experience working on electrical wiring, and mechanical components.
  • Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • EPA (Environmental Protection agency) Universal Certification for refrigerant handling.
  • HVAC Technician Certification (NATE, HVAC Excellence, or equivalent).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems is a plus.
  • Experience working in a large office setting is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work 1st shift hours (6:30am – 3pm) Monday – Friday
  • You will be part of the IAM Local 964 union.
  • Work onsite at our Chula Vista, CA Location
  • Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, heating systems, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related problems.
  • Replace defective components, such as compressors, motors, bearings, and controls.
  • Ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently, adjusting settings and controls as necessary.
  • Monitor and address energy consumption and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, codes, and regulations, including OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Safely handle refrigerants in compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and refrigerant usage.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to understand HVAC needs and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Utilize a variety of tools and equipment, including gauges, meters, and hand tools, to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain proper inventory of tools, parts, and materials needed for HVAC operations.
  • working on rooftops, and in varying temperatures.
  • Lift up to 25Ibs
  • Preforms other duties as assigned
