About The Position

The HVAC Technician supports a mission‑critical, 24/7 airport environment by maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing HVAC and mechanical systems across terminals, concourses, and central plant facilities. This role ensures reliable, energy‑efficient, and code‑compliant operation of chiller plants, air handling units, pumps, and related equipment essential to passenger comfort and airport continuity. The technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance, responds to system issues, and documents all work within the CMMS. By safeguarding mechanical system performance, this position plays a key role in maintaining safe, uninterrupted airport operations.

Requirements

  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (active and verifiable).
  • Ability to obtain required airport badging and pass background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Georgia Conditioned Air License (Class II preferred for unrestricted commercial scope).
  • OSHA 10 minimum; OSHA 30 preferred for senior technicians.
  • NFPA 70E awareness for electrical safety.
  • OEM training certifications (Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Johnson Controls, etc.).
  • BAS/BMS experience (Metasys, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and building mechanical systems supporting a 24/7 airport environment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair air handling units, rooftop units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Operate, maintain, and optimize central chiller plant infrastructure and campus-wide mechanical systems.
  • Ensure continuous, reliable operation of HVAC systems to support passenger comfort and mission‑critical airport functions.
  • Meet preventive maintenance and work order SLA targets.
  • Maintain plumbing system uptime and regulatory readiness.
  • Ensure backflow documentation is accurate and audit ready.
  • Reduce repeat failures through proper diagnosis and repair.
  • Support a strong safety culture with zero preventable incidents.
  • Diagnose system performance issues and implement corrective actions to restore optimal functionality.
  • Execute scheduled PM tasks in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, airport standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of work performed using the CMMS system.
  • Monitor HVAC system performance and recommend improvements for energy efficiency, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Respond to equipment alarms, service requests, and operational emergencies in a fast-paced, 24/7 facility.
  • Follow all safety protocols, building codes, and compliance standards related to mechanical system operation.
  • Collaborate with building operations, engineering, and other airport teams to support uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Conduct inspections of terminals, concourses, mechanical rooms, and occupied spaces to identify maintenance needs or potential hazards.
  • Assist in commissioning, testing, and integrating upgraded or newly installed mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
