About The Position

Facilities Management, Tempe campus, seeks HVAC Technicians to perform preventive maintenance, repair, overhaul and maintain heating, ventilating, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems. HVAC Technician I Essential Duties Perform preventive maintenance tasks (e.g., filter and belt replacement) Perform equipment diagnostics and repairs Interpret HVAC schematics and wiring diagrams Document work performed and ensure compliance with safety procedures Support on-call duties and emergency response Work under the guidance of senior staff HVAC Technician II Essential Duties Perform repairs on chillers, boilers, air handlers, compressors, and controls Conduct preventive maintenance, system diagnostics, and performance tests Support on-call duties and emergency response Train and mentor junior technicians as needed Maintain accurate service logs and reports

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • HVAC Technician I: 0-2 years HVAC or facilities experience
  • High school diploma
  • Must obtain CFC certification within 6 months
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license
  • HVAC Technician II: 3–6 years of HVAC experience
  • EPA Universal CFC Certification
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical experience toward the required experience
  • Valid Arizona driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Basic HVAC knowledge: air handlers, VAVs, exhaust systems, DX units
  • Competency with hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to work safely with refrigerants and tools
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls
  • Ability to read and interpret complex schematics and as-builts
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and using digital instrumentation
  • Familiarity with chilled water systems, DX equipment, and airflow mechanics

Responsibilities
