About The Position

The HVAC / Mechanical Technician, or a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Technician, installs, maintains and repairs various air quality systems and mechanical systems. Their main duties include locating and diagnosing maintenance problems on equipment, conducting warranty services, and quickly performing emergency repairs on certain equipment items. This person will assist with HVAC work inside the Emerald Grande, as well as for the HarborWalk Village offices, merchants, and student housing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • 1+ year experience as an HVAC/Mechanical technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Solid knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant workplace safety practices.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.
  • All employees must adhere to all safety rules and regulations required by local, State and Federal authorities, wear the appropriate personal protective equipment necessary to perform the job in a safe manner and will follow all safety rules per the Company’s Safety Policy.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee the employee will stand; walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch and climb. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds upon occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, mechanical and hot/cold side equipment.
  • Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Clean, adjust, and repair systems, and perform warranty services.
  • Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Provide technical directions.
  • Keep logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensure compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Comply with service standards, work instructions, and customers’ requirements.
  • Assist with customer and owner inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned.
