The HVAC Technician I keeps our Lansing Data Center running by maintaining and repairing the commercial HVAC systems that protect critical equipment every day. The work is hands-on and physical, focused on Liebert/Vertiv CRAC units and office RTUs in an active data center environment. This role is for someone who takes pride in doing solid work, staying busy, and working safely, and it includes regular lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant HVAC or mechanical experience
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to complete Liebert/Vertiv training and certification programs
  • Clean driving record
  • EPA 608 Type I
  • EPA 608 Type III
  • EPA 608 Universal
  • Valid Michigan refrigeration license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a data center, industrial, or critical facility environment
  • Associate’s degree in HVAC, Mechanical Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on CRAC units and commercial HVAC systems
  • Inspect, service, and repair motors, belts, filters, compressors, and controls
  • Assist with calibration and testing of thermostats and HVAC control systems
  • Replace worn, faulty, or expired components in HVAC systems
  • Respond to urgent maintenance needs in a live data center environment
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with established standards
  • Request materials and supplies required for maintenance and repairs
