The HVAC Mechanic key duties include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical faults, performing routine preventive maintenance, cleaning and adjusting systems, replacing worn or defective parts, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and occasionally providing emergency repairs or customer guidance on system operation and efficiency. This person will focus on service response and consistently provide an upbeat customer service experience to our client. Repair and maintenance of the mechanical equipment with tasks ranging from the operation of systems to the examination and evaluation of equipment to determine needed repairs. Install refrigeration and air conditioning systems by positioning compressors, motors, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, heaters and other components in accordance with design specifications. Install and connect auxiliary and control mechanisms and piping or tubing. Charge refrigeration systems with refrigerant gas and tests for leaks. Start unit and adjust it for proper cut-in and cut-out of refrigeration units, humidifiers, heaters, air cleaners, and circulating pumps. Adjust systems for optimal performance. Maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems by checking performance and determining troubles. Repairs, adjusts, or replaces defective elements. Install, maintain and repair the electrical and pneumatic systems associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment from the safety switch throughout the equipment. Install, maintain, repair, operate all types of centrifugal and reciprocating refrigeration/air conditioning systems; also all types of pneumatic/electro-mechanical temperature controls. Perform necessary plumbing procedures to ensure operation of systems and equipment. Perform other duties and shift coverage as required.

Requirements

  • Requires ability to read blueprints, sketches, and specifications pertaining to air conditioning and refrigeration systems; to follow oral instructions; to use shop mathematics; to lay out work
  • Operate testing equipment for the systems; to use all tools and equipment necessary to this trade; to follow standard methods and procedures for the most part but on occasion to have the ability and knowledge to perform the unusual and difficult operations
  • Minimum 4 years' experience performing the specific craft function or certification from a recognized trade school
  • Require broad trade knowledge of mechanical principals on standard shop methods of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics Trade
