About The Position

The HVAC Technician supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across Applied Medical facilities. The role ensures reliable building operations by maintaining commercial HVAC equipment, diagnosing system issues, and performing code compliant repairs. The HVAC Technician applies strong technical proficiency, safety awareness, and problem-solving skills to sustain comfortable and efficient environments throughout the campus.

Requirements

  • Bring three to five years of commercial HVAC experience or equivalent technical training.
  • Hold an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Section six hundred eight Certification, Type two or Universal.
  • Maintain a valid driver license and reliable driving record.
  • Diagnose HVAC issues using strong troubleshooting skills and understanding of digital control systems.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting more than fifty pounds and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, team members, vendors, and leadership.
  • Work safely with refrigerants, power tools, and HVAC components while delivering high quality work.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold a journeyman level HVAC license or state specific mechanical license.
  • Bring experience with chillers, boilers, variable refrigerant flow systems, and energy management systems.
  • Apply knowledge of commercial electrical systems relevant to HVAC equipment.
  • Support building automation systems or building management systems when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, heat pumps, VAV and VVT systems, exhaust systems, and ventilation equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing using gauges, meters, and digital diagnostic tools to assess system performance and identify required repairs.
  • Install and replace HVAC components such as motors, compressors, fans, belts, coils, pumps, valves, and control systems.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical documents to support accurate repair and installation work.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks in alignment with manufacturer guidelines and company standards to improve system reliability.
  • Respond to service calls and work orders promptly while delivering professional and customer focused support.
  • Document completed work including findings, parts used, and recommended follow up actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, building codes, environmental regulations, and proper refrigerant handling practices.
  • Collaborate with team members, contractors, and internal departments to resolve issues efficiently and support facility operations.
