As an HVAC Smart Building Sales Account Executive, you will represent Johnson Controls' building automation solutions within the construction community. You will engage directly with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and designers to help them achieve smarter, more efficient, and reliable buildings. The position involves managing and growing assigned accounts, fostering long-term partnerships built on trust and results. By combining technical insight with an understanding of customer business needs, you will position Johnson Controls as a valued partner. Collaboration with internal operations teams is crucial to ensure smooth project execution and sustained customer satisfaction, with renewable service agreements forming the basis of ongoing relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field
  • 2–3+ years of experience selling building automation systems or related construction technologies
  • A strong commitment to integrity, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Excellent communication, initiative, and relationship‑building skills
  • Proven ability to influence key decision‑makers across multiple levels of customer organizations

Responsibilities

  • Be the face of Johnson Controls’ building automation solutions within the construction community.
  • Work directly with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and designers, helping them deliver smarter, more efficient, and more reliable buildings.
  • Manage and grow a set of assigned accounts, building long-term partnerships based on trust, performance, and results.
  • Position Johnson Controls as a valued partner by combining technical insight with a strong understanding of customer business needs.
  • Collaborate closely with internal operations teams to ensure projects run smoothly and customers stay satisfied long after installation, with renewable service agreements.
  • Drive sales of Johnson Controls’ building automation offerings to contractors, consultants, and designers with minimal oversight.
  • Manage multiple active opportunities while balancing customer value and profitable growth.
  • Develop strong partnerships across the owner and construction communities, engaging stakeholders throughout the decision-making process.
  • Understand each customer’s business goals, challenges, and project cycles by listening closely and asking the right questions.
  • Apply technical and business expertise in building automation systems and construction workflows to deliver solutions that solve real operational and environmental challenges.
  • Identify, pursue, and qualify new prospects aligned with Johnson Controls’ strategy, while maintaining a strong network of industry relationships.
  • Consistently move opportunities forward using a disciplined and transparent sales process.
  • Clearly demonstrate how Johnson Controls stands apart from competitors by connecting customer goals to total value solutions, using creativity, innovation, and resourcefulness.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within Johnson Controls, setting clear expectations, supporting project closeout and final inspections.
  • Ensure customers are trained and confident in their system operation so they realize lasting value.
