About The Position

An HVAC technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to ensure proper climate control and air quality in residential and commercial buildings. Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical/mechanical faults, replacing broken parts, reading blueprints, and ensuring systems comply with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; completion of an HVAC training program is often preferred.
  • EPA certification for handling refrigerants is required, with NATE certification often preferred.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, electrical diagrams, and using tools of the trade.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work in extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • System Testing: Testing electrical circuits, components, and joints for proper functioning and safety.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhering to safety protocols, EPA regulations for refrigerant handling, and local codes.
  • Customer Service: Discussing system issues with clients, recommending improvements, and documenting work performed.
  • Installation & Maintenance: Installing new heating and cooling systems and performing routine maintenance (e.g., cleaning ducts, changing filters).
  • Diagnostics & Repair: Troubleshooting malfunctions and repairing or replacing defective parts, such as motors, compressors, and thermostats
