About The Position

The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is one of the largest trade associations in the nation, representing more than 300 heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC), water heating, and commercial refrigeration manufacturers from all parts of the world. Ensuring human comfort, productivity, and safety while practicing environmental stewardship is the mission of AHRI. Through our certification program, standards, advocacy, and other activities, we strive to help save energy, improve productivity, and ensure a better environment. AHRI has an opening for a HVAC Program Engineer with our Program Operations Team. The HVAC Program Engineer’s primary responsibility is the management of assigned HVACR industry working groups and associated certification programs. Duties are as follows:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a nationally accredited four-year college or university
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience (preferably in the HVACR industry).
  • Working understanding of product performance testing including associated standards and methods of test.
  • Demonstrated ability to define, plan, and execute project deliverables with minimal supervision.
  • Experience leading or facilitating meetings and public speaking/presentations

Nice To Haves

  • LEED, PE, or EIT desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product testing with certification participants, regional AHRI teams, and third-party laboratories to ensure accurate and timely completion of market surveillance testing.
  • Convene Compliance Committee meetings to review annual program performance, maintain and update governing documents, and make recommendations for program changes or new programs.
  • Lead working group meetings with member companies to complete projects and tasks.
  • Represent AHRI in technical conferences/workshops, meetings, and other venues including preparing technical documents supporting company positions.
  • Work with technical working groups to develop performance rating standards and guidelines.

  • The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $98,000 based on relevant industry experience.
