About The Position

A successful candidate for this position, shall have journeyman level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, and machinery; be able to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor; read and interpret blueprints; and perform other assigned duties. A successful candidate for this position is expected to train and supervise incarcerated offenders within State prison environment. This position has a duty station of Raleigh, NC and requires the successful candidate to commute daily to various locations, in which the chosen candidate will retrieve the State assigned work vehicle. This State-Owned work vehicle for standard business use and overnight stays when required. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday – Friday and may require some overnight travel to meet the demands of the organization.

Requirements

  • Journeyman level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, equipment, and machinery
  • Ability to work independently to complete work assignments received by a supervisor
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to train and supervise incarcerated offenders within State prison environment
  • Requires current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of progressive experience in the installation, maintenance or repair of air conditioning chillers, air handling, chilled water distribution and control systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
