About The Position

Skillforce Inc. is seeking experienced HVAC Mechanics for projects in McLean, VA, supporting the Northern Virginia area. This position is located on a government site and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a clear background check. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic and be highly proficient in installing 3” copper mains for hot and cold water systems in corridor settings. Strong reliability and punctuality are required, as this site involves daily escorted access and does not allow late arrivals or unscheduled absences. Pay: Scale Wage — $79.46 per hour Project Duration: 1 year+

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be reliable with attendance; this site requires daily escorted access.
  • Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship.
  • Valid HVAC technician certification (e.g., EPA Section 608 Certification).
  • Proven experience working with HVAC systems in a professional capacity.
  • Must be highly proficient in installing 3” copper mains for hot and cold water systems in corridor settings
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher in HVAC technology or related field.
  • Experience with computerized HVAC control systems and building automation.
  • Strong knowledge of energy-efficient HVAC technologies and green building standards.
  • Familiarity with local and national HVAC codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ventilation units.
  • Install new HVAC equipment according to manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts to prevent system failures.
  • Test electrical circuits, controls, and safety devices to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with clients to explain system issues, recommend solutions, and provide cost estimates for repairs or upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for all maintenance and repair activities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and provide effective troubleshooting under time constraints.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
