POSITION TYPE: Permanent, 12-month SHRA, FLSA non-exempt, Mandatory NCSSM and the Plant Facilities Department foster an environment of collaboration across departments and divisions and support community-engaged service and research. The Plant Facilities Department of NCSSM provides effective service to all 16 buildings and areas of the 27 acre NCSSM-Durham Campus. Plant Facilities provides a variety of services that include housekeeping, grounds, plumbing, electrical, steam plant, HVAC, general maintenance and repair, carpentry and painting. The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the mechanical systems that support building operations on the NCSSM-Durham Campus. This position ensures the efficient and safe operation of HVAC, steam, chilled water, and related systems. The HVAC Mechanic works both independently and as a part of a team, assisting with a variety of preventive maintenance tasks, repairs, and operational support needs across the campus. This position is designated as mandatory to school operations and is required to report to work in the event there is an emergency closing; adverse weather; or public health emergency.
