About The Position

PCSI is looking for a HVAC Mechanic (Heavy Tech II over 20 Tons) at Ft Sill!  Maintain, repair, or replace commercial/residential HVAC systems under 20tons. Follow mechanical code for installing and replacing HVAC systems. This position will report to the HVAC Supervisor and is based at Ft Sill in Lawton. Typical work hours will be Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm. Requirements

  • Must have at least ten years’ experience and/or formal/vocational training.
  • Must possess EPA Universal Certification.
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. up to 10 times per day required.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders.  Frequently required to kneel, squat, bend, and reach.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Unlimited Limited or Unlimited Journeyman/Contractor preferred.
  • Mechanical Journeyman License preferred.  Ability to obtain within three years recommended.
  • Basic understanding on how BAS monitors and adjusts temperature, humidity, and airflow, as well as troubleshooting common HVAC-related alarms.  Awareness of communication protocols like BACnet and the principles of energy conservation within a BAS framework is also expected.
  • Knowledge of Air-Cooled Chiller Theory – Screw, Scroll and Reciprocating Compressors.
  • Knowledge of Water-Cooled Chiller Theory to include oil less centrifugal.
  • Ability to explain the basic and sequence of operations for refrigeration and A/C Systems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and read a basic unit wire schematic proficiently.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical wiring to wire in motors, thermostats, condensing units, mini split systems, heaters, Variable Frequency Drives, WYE Delta Starters, and building controls systems.
  • Ability to cut, modify, thread, repair, and install steel or copper piping for natural gas or water piping using threading machines, MAPP gas, oxygen-acetylene torches or pro press.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment required for installation, maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, or replace commercial/residential HVAC systems under and over 20 tons.
  • Follow mechanical code for installing and replacing HVAC systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on the following:
  • Residential and package units to include roof top units (RTU’s)
  • Unit Heaters (to include hanging heaters and tube heaters)
  • Fan Coil Units and Variable Air Volume (VAV) Units
  • Exhaust fans.
  • Thermostats – know the various applications to type of equipment, low voltage, line voltage and temperature sensors.
  • Vent piping for various applications to include stainless steel and PVC Vent Piping
  • Electrical circuits
  • Air handling units (AHU’s), dedicated outside air units (DOAU’s), and make up air units (MAU’s).
  • GEOTHERMAL Systems
  • Motor Controllers/Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Tube heaters.
  • Mini Split Systems
  • Direct Expansion (DX) Units
  • Pump/Motor repair and installation
  • Small refrigeration systems
  • Minor and major repairs to air cooled chillers to include binding of sensors on chillers
  • Minor and major repairs to water cooled chillers.
  • Minor and major repairs to cooling towers.
  • Commercial and industrial refrigeration systems to include 10-ton Ice machines and above and large-scale freezer walk ins.
  • Perform Refrigerant Recovery.
  • Install portable A/C Units with duct work on Facilities.
  • Install portable chiller units and hook up hoses.
  • Install commercial and industrial process ice machines.
  • Perform overhaul on reciprocating compressors for walk in coolers and freezers.
  • Assist in the maintenance, repair, or replacement of domestic and heating hot water boilers 4,000,000 BTU and below.
  • Assist in the installation of heating and domestic hot water boilers.
  • Cut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting/bending equipment/pro press tools.
  • Cut and thread pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Join tubing or pipes to various refrigeration/air conditioning units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solder joints, using oxygen-acetylene torches, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
  • Braze and solder copper joints using different percentages of solder.
  • Run and install new gas piping to include regulators and valves to existing connections.
  • Test joints and connections for gas or refrigerant leaks, using gauges or soap and water solution.
  • Perform proper charging techniques using superheat and subcooling.
  • Assemble and install rigid and flexible duct work.
  • Install or replace components of residential split systems, mini splits, fan coils, exhaust fans, and those systems listed above.
  • Train others to perform maintenance, troubleshoot and repair HVAC Systems.

  • Base pay of $30.39 hourly plus $6.10 an hour for health and welfare
