About The Position

Why We Need Your Talents: As an HVAC Master, you will take ownership of the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across the entire property. From monitoring central utility plants and automated controls to troubleshooting and optimizing system performance, your skills will ensure a safe, comfortable, and energy-efficient environment for all occupants.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and understand English
  • Must hold a high school diploma or GED before enrolling in an apprentice training program
  • Seven (7) plus years’ technical and trade experience
  • Current master license
  • Universal CFC Certificatation
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary license as mandated by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
  • Must understand operating principles of VAV systems, variable flow chilled water, cooling towers, and hot water heating.
  • Must have knowledge of automation systems. Siemens preferred.
  • Must know general maintenance procedures for HVAC systems.
  • Must have troubleshooting skills.
  • Must have the ability to work on refrigerant circuits. Like recovering refrigerants, brazing, leak testing, evacuating, and charging.
  • Must be able to work in high places and cramped spaces, apprentices must be physically able to climb ladders and crawl into confined areas. Stoop, crouch, and kneel
  • Apprentices must be able to hear or read warnings and instructions
  • Must be able to stand/walk up to 7 ½ hours per shift
  • Require manual dexterity to operate all necessary equipment
  • Must be able to ascend/descend up to 32 stairs
  • Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job
  • The work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio-hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
  • Use of stairs and elevators

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily tours and inspections to monitor and record status of various systems.
  • Monitor building conditions and adjust as needed.
  • Monitor and operate central utility systems such as dual-fuel boilers above 10 MMBTU and negative pressure chillers up to and including 2,000 tons.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance of air handlers, pumps, fans, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repair or coordinate vendors as needed.
  • Keep records of operating conditions, maintenance/repair logs, and service tickets.
