About The Position

Aramark is hiring an HVAC Maintenance Technician to support facilities operations at Hartwick College. This role is responsible for the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and related mechanical systems across a diverse campus environment. Hartwick College operates a wide variety of HVAC systems, making this position well suited for a technician who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting, system variety, and preventive maintenance rather than repetitive service-route work. This is a campus-based role with a stable daytime schedule and a structured on-call rotation. Schedule & Coverage Expectations Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM On-call rotation: Every third week On-call coverage includes evenings, weekends, and emergency response

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of HVAC maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience working across multiple HVAC systems strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow safety procedures due to physical job demands
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull, and stand or walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and utility spaces
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as required

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 608 certification preferred (Universal a plus), but not required
  • Other HVAC-related certifications are a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems independently

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, operate, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
  • Perform maintenance and repairs across a variety of HVAC system types, including older and newer equipment
  • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and accurately document completed work
  • Troubleshoot HVAC system issues and respond to repair requests
  • Inspect, clean, service, and replace filters in air handling and heating units
  • Clean and maintain ductwork, grills, shaftways, and exhaust systems
  • Calibrate, repair, and maintain pneumatic and mechanical control systems
  • Coordinate work with electrical, plumbing, and other skilled trades as needed
  • Respond to after-hours and emergency maintenance situations during assigned on-call periods
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and materials required for daily operations
  • Follow all OSHA, state, federal, and Aramark safety policies
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused attitude with faculty, staff, students, and coworkers
