Requirements

  • Experienced in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and schematics related to HVAC systems.
  • Holder of an EPA Universal Technician certification.
  • Experience with various building automation systems
  • Possess training equivalent to 3 years in skilled trades.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-5 years of experience working on HVAC units in hospitals, schools, commercial, or industrial settings.
  • S2 License holder or any other trade license.

Responsibilities

  • Work from complex blueprints, schematics, drawings, written and verbal instructions to carry out work on heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
  • Operate, program and troubleshoot problems with energy management systems using module or lap top computer.
  • Requires plumbing of refrigeration system for pneumatic, chilled and tower water branch ties.
  • Plan and perform major overhaul operations.
  • Evaluate and specify replacement components as required; maintain inventory of spare parts.
  • Troubleshoot, rebuild, repair and perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC equipment and air handling systems including cleaning strainer and changing filters.
  • Install and repair controls and systems by using various meters, gages, indicators and leak detectors.
  • Recondition refrigeration compressors.
  • Charge and reclaim refrigerant (freon) as required.
  • Perform all tasks that are permissible by CT. S-2 unlimited journeyman’s license.
  • Instruct one or two fellow employees in the performance of duties.
  • Improve and solve problems in cooperation with fellow employees and technical support group.
  • Keep equipment and surrounding areas neat and clean.
  • Perform related duties as required within the scope of this job function.
