About The Position

Responsible for accomplishing all required service and/or maintenance, scheduled or unscheduled, relating to HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, fabrication, and overhaul functions. Be the difference. Oversees the work of other personnel by training, delegating, and monitoring work. Performs work of similar nature. Inspects work of contractors working on systems in his area and reports problems to the manager or director. Investigates delays, solves problems, and ensures timely completion of work. Demonstrates the ability to respond effectively in cases of emergencies. Performs scheduled tests to comply with Joint Commission, DPH, and other standards. Maintains and repairs equipment and systems including plumbing, sewer, medical gases, domestic hot and cold water, heating and cooling systems, refrigeration systems, team, chilled water, etc. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and documents as required. Detects repairs necessary, implements repair request as required, and recommends changes to the preventative maintenance system such as additions, deletions, and frequency changes to Manager or Director. Ensures adequate levels of supplies, materials, and equipment are on hand to make repairs. Utilizes material in a cost-effective manner. Documents all material or equipment utilized for each project. Installs new equipment and systems including HVAC, refrigeration, medical gases, plumbing etc. Participates in On-Call schedule and Call-Back for emergency situations. Tests areas for air balance, positive and negative pressure, humidity, air quality, etc. Install portable negative pressure machines. Tests medical gas lines after interruption. Monitors direct digital controls of all HVAC systems. Collects statistical data and reports to show trends and misuse of systems in a timely manner. Monitors direct digital controls of all HVAC systems. Responds to all personnel issues in a timely manner. Works with employees to resolve problems and discusses misconduct or violations by personnel with Manager or Director. Assists with completion of employee evaluations ensuring fair, accurate, and timely completion. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma/highest degree earned. Trade courses in electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing preferred. Associates degree in electronics preferred
  • Experience - Ten (10) years HVAC/refrigeration
  • In Lieu Of In lieu of education and experience requirements noted above, an Associate’s degree and five (5) years of HVAC experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Refrigeration (four levels) preferred
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant preferred
  • Journeyman electrician license (city) preferred
  • Backflow prevention certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Building Automation System
  • Mathematical skills
  • Direct digital controls/computer skills

  • Knowledge of Controls Software preferred
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Proficient computer skills (word processing)
