Position Purpose: The HVAC Field Lead is responsible for providing peer leadership to technicians who accomplish the repair, retrofit, and replacement of HVAC systems. This is a working role that will also perform the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment as necessary. This role requires 80% of their time to be in the field and 20% of their time to be in the office. Additionally, this role is responsible for coaching, training, technician quality control and developing technicians as well as gaining exposure and development on the operational aspects of the business. Aligns with Service Managers and their technicians to execute assigned work. Job Responsibilities: Leads safety culture by following company protocol and modeling best practices Implements and evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations Contributes to the profit and loss of their work team Ensures technician development is addressed across their team Supports HVAC field technicians by providing guidance and leadership Supervises jobs by making visits to technicians’ work sites Represents the company by serving as a direct customer contact Serves customers by meeting their technical needs either directly or through their Team Members Guides team through identifying, analyzing, and quoting equipment repairs at customers’ locations Conduct QC visits after a PM or work order have been performed Visit with assigned customers and manage accounts Other duties as assigned by manager or as necessary by customer Supervisory Responsibilities: Participates in training, directing, and mentoring of team members Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and processes Plans, assigns, and directs work of team Addresses internal/external complaints and resolves problems Qualifications To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as embrace the development and training aspect of the position. Education and Experience Requirements Must have in-depth knowledge of various HVAC products, systems, electronics, and pneumatic controls Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Five – 10 years’ experience at the HVAC Technician level Other Requirements: Exhibit leadership skills and talent to help drive the businesses growth and the growth of our field Abilities: Read, analyze, and interpret information Write reports and business correspondence Use of tools and technology Effectively present information and respond to questions from internal/external clients Translate detailed instructions into action items Problem solve using data and analytics Adapt to individual and team work environment Technological proficiency to include Microsoft Office products Ability to maintain urgency, but remain calm when dealing with emergencies Ability to deal diplomatically and communicate effectively with internal and external customers Valid driver’s license Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends (as needed) Infrequent overnight travel may be required Professional appearance Strong interpersonal skills, achievement oriented, self-motivated, and organized Physical Demands The employee must occasionally climb ladders to access rooftop equipment for the purpose of developing quotations The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds Strict adherence to Company safety requirements Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of a HVAC Field Lead.
