About The Position

Skilled US is seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC/ Electrical Instructor to lead training programs for adult learners and opportunity youth aligned to high-demand careers in skilled trades. This role delivers hands-on, industry-aligned technical instruction that prepares participants for: Industry-recognized certifications Apprenticeship entry Direct employment in HVAC, electrical and related fields In addition to technical instruction, this position integrates career readiness, workplace expectations and job placement preparation into all training. This is a high-impact, outcomes-driven role that blends: Technical instruction Workforce readiness Employer alignment Student coaching and accountability Hours: Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM, 1:00 PM–5:00 PM, or 4:00 PM–9:00 PM Program Focus HVAC Pathway Includes: HVAC Fundamentals & Safety (OSHA-10) Basic Electrical for HVAC Heating Systems (Gas, Electric) Cooling Systems (AC, Refrigeration Basics) EPA 608 Certification Preparation System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting Preventative Maintenance Tools, Equipment, and Field Practices Electrical Pathway Includes: Electrical Fundamentals & Safety (OSHA-10 & 30) Residential Wiring Blueprint Reading & Schematics Circuits, Conduit, and Installation NEC (National Electrical Code) Basics Hand and Power Tool Use Introduction to Industrial Electrical Systems Pre-Apprenticeship Preparation Workforce Readiness Programming Includes: Professional communication Workplace expectations and behavior Resume development and interview preparation Time management and accountability Career pathway mapping Financial literacy basics Job search strategy Employer engagement preparation

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to obtain a Valid Indiana Workplace Specialist License, or eligibility based on 5-7+ years of HVAC and/or electrical industry experience
  • 3 years of Instructional or Industry Training experience
  • EPA 608 Certification (HVAC)
  • NCCER Instructor Certification (or willingness to obtain quickly)
  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 instructor certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience working with tools, systems and field applications
  • Electrical certifications or apprenticeship experience
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on HVAC and/or electrical instruction aligned to applicable state industry standards
  • Prepare learners for OSHA-10, EPA 608 (HVAC) and entry-level electrical competencies
  • Integrate technical instruction with workforce readiness and employability skills math
  • Differentiate instruction for adult learners and opportunity youth
  • Maintain strong classroom engagement and accountability
  • Maintain a safe, compliant training environment
  • Enforce PPE and OSHA safety standards at all times
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintain safety logs
  • Ensure proper tool usage, storage and accountability
  • Reinforce attendance, professionalism and workplace expectations
  • Support learners in achieving certifications and technical competency
  • Provide coaching on career readiness and job placement
  • Identify and support students who are at risk of disengagement
  • Track participant progress and outcomes
  • Build relationships with employers, unions, and apprenticeship programs
  • Align instruction with labor market demand
  • Support work-based learning opportunities and job placement pipelines
  • Participate in employer meetings, advisory groups and site visits
  • Maintain accurate attendance, performance and credential tracking
  • Track workforce readiness milestones milestones and job placement readiness
  • Document work-based learning hours and outcomes
  • Support WIOA, grant and compliance reporting requirements
