The π Animal Husbandry Assistant role at SEA LIFE Aquarium Minnesota is part of our amazing Displays Team! This is a part-time opportunity with flexible hours, perfect for someone passionate about marine life and behind-the-scenes care π In this role, youβll support our aquarists with the day-to-day care of both marine and freshwater exhibits. This includes assisting with diving π€Ώ, animal care, and helping keep our habitats looking their best. Youβll be responsible for preparing diets π¦, maintaining clean and organized backstage areas π§Ό, monitoring water chemistry π§, and supporting general husbandry tasks. Youβll also have the chance to engage with guests by delivering fun and educational talks π£οΈβ¨ All responsibilities are carried out under the guidance of our Displays Curator, giving you a great opportunity to learn and grow in a hands-on environment π’π Qualifications & Experience What You'll Be Doing!: Work closely with the Displays Curator and team members to support daily operations π π€ Assist aquarists with cleaning exhibit and backstage areas, preparing diets π¦, feeding animals, and providing excellent day-to-day care for aquatic habitats π Bring the exhibits to life by delivering interactive guest programming and engaging presentations π€β¨ Create memorable moments by connecting with guests and supporting daily public talks π£οΈπ Help evolve and enhance display areas in line with the companyβs long-term vision ππ’ Support dive operations as a diver or secondary tender π€Ώ Uphold and meet all AZA, USDA, and Merlin Health and Safety standards to ensure a safe and high-quality environment π‘οΈπ What YOU Bring To The Team!: 1 year of experience and knowledge of aquatic animal care (diet preparation) in a professional aquarium setting preferred π π SCUBA certification is a plus (Rescue Diver especially!) π€Ώ Experience working with guests or in a public-facing role, bringing great energy and service π Strong attention to detail to help keep our animals and habitats thriving ππ Education: Weβre looking for candidates who are passionate about the field and eager to learn! πβ¨ Currently working toward a degree in Life Sciences such as Biology, Marine Biology, Zoology, or Psychology π§¬π’ Or hands-on experience in aquarium science through work in an aquarium or zoo, especially in education or animal care π§ Or a combination of education in another field paired with practical, real-world experience π
