About The Position

The Viral Disease Prevention and Services Branch (VDPSB) within the Department for Public Health is a great opportunity to improve the health of Kentuckians. This work protects and promotes the health of Kentuckians in the areas of viral disease prevention and services. The Human Services Program Supervisor will oversee the administration of the prevention services in the branch. If you are a person who loves contributing to the health of Kentucky communities, this is the job for you. This is a federally funded time-limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of professional experience in the administration of human services programs, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field.
  • Administrative or business experience, or professional, subprofessional, or clerical work in a human services area, emergency management services, emergency medical technician, paramedic, or related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • Basic understanding of public health, infectious diseases, microbiology, or surveillance preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, and administers Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Prevention services.
  • Performs oversight of prevention efforts, collection of Prevention program data, and performance information.
  • Provide supervision and oversight of Prevention Section staff.
  • Provide technical assistance to subrecipients, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Assists with defining Prevention program goals and objectives.
  • Oversees and assists with grant report preparation and other legislative reports.
