About The Position

Providing a generalist human service overview with a focus in nonprofit work. Working closely with families in underserved communities to provide high quality services in basic needs areas. The student will gain professional skills in case management, advocacy and community engagement work while learning how to work effectively with a team.

Requirements

• Actively obtaining a Bachelor's degree in human services or a closely related field
• Passionate about local community work and advocacy efforts
• Ability to develop and maintain effective processes by employing critical thinking to relate tasks as a way to maximize efficiency through to completion
• High school diploma/general education degree (GED) OR a combination of education and experience that is similarly equivalent.
• Pass Criminal Background check & Drug Screening
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
• Above average attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, and dependability.
• Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies, procedures, and mission.

Responsibilities

• Assisting clients with applying for basic needs programs internally and externally
• Working with families in an underserved community
• Assisting walk in clients with their needs
• Conducting outbound phone calls to clients needing assistance to ensure they get connected to services
• Apply classroom learning to real-world practices
