About The Position

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Input changes to payroll and employee data prior to processing; verify leave time taken with balances; communicate with supervisors to resolve discrepancies with payroll timesheets; calculate employee timesheets; and performs timesheet entry into payroll system. Answers telephone and greet job applicants; provides basic information and assistance; refers to appropriate personnel as needed. Creates and posts job vacancy announcements for current and budgeted classified positions; updates website; logs and distributes employment applications; assists appointing authorities and department heads with scheduling of interviews and background checks; types and mails turndown letters as requested. Assists with organizing and conducting employee new hire orientations. Responds to employee verifications from outside agencies, financial institutions, and private businesses. Prepares correspondence in response to FMLA requests and maintains the status of each employee on leave. Assists departments with Workmen's Compensation reporting and claims processing; maintains all related documentation. Assists with the scheduling of random, post-accident, pre-employment and return to work drug and alcohol screenings, monitoring of results and file maintenance. Maintains updated log and monitors performance evaluations due and leave balances and sends monthly report to supervisors. Sends faxes, makes copies, binds reports, and types documents. Files documents related to each employee in the respective master file and ensures confidentiality requirements are met; maintains I-9 documentation and filing system. Completes compensation and employment surveys. Assist citizens visiting the Commission Office in the absence of designated personnel. Responds to citizens' questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner. Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems. Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities. Manages cafeteria 125 Plan and annual elections; communicates terminations to third-party administrator; maintains files. Prepares newspaper ads for local newspaper for budgeted and open positions. Assists Human Resources Director with special projects as needed. <li>Assists with conducting interviews. Performs other related duties as assigned.
