About The Position

Under the direction of the Finance and HR Director, the HR Specialist is responsible for daily human resource tasks associated with onboarding, offboarding, and employee tracking. Ensuring responsibilities are handled in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills-both written and verbal. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals effectively and clearly. Excellent vendor and customer relations skills required.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers, and staff in the accomplishments of the YMCA goals, objectives, and mission in the community. Possesses a concern for detail and accuracy and can delegate responsibility.
  • Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development, and our mission.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults in all circumstances.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Completes all required training, which includes child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
  • Upholds YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting, and risk management.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with youths.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a membership/customer service-based business is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Hiring Support
  • Manage and track job requisitions in coordination with hiring managers
  • Post job openings and assist with candidate sourcing as needed
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews as needed
  • Assist with reference checks
  • Prepare and send offer letters
  • Initiate and track background check processes
  • Monitor and track new hire progress from offer acceptance to start date
  • Onboarding & New Hire Tracking
  • Coordinate and assist with New Hire Orientation
  • Ensure completion of onboarding documentation and compliance requirements
  • Track the successful onboarding of new employees and rehires, including completion of new hire training
  • Monitor and ensure completion of 30-day and 90-day check-ins for all employees
  • Offboarding
  • Oversee offboarding processes for departing employees
  • Conduct and document exit interviews
  • Ensure completion of all separation paperwork
  • Coordinate final documentation and internal notifications
  • Maintain records of terminations and related documentation
  • Employee Changes & Records
  • Review, verify, process, and upload all employee change forms
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all employee changes.
  • Track all minor work authorizations
  • Additional Tasks:
  • Assist with accurate tracking and filing of all documents
  • Ensure compliance with safety and legal regulations through adherence of all policies and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
