About The Position

Provides a variety of administrative support services to the Human Resources Department. Responsible for the coordination of FMLA, workers compensation, personnel records, and temporary staffing. This position involves frequent contact with department directors and managers, the staff of the State Bar of Texas, applicants, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of five years of human resources related work experience.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively on the telephone, in person and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments is required.
  • Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee records and agency information, including personal data, medical records, compensation information, performance reviews, and State Bar agency data.
  • Requires proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and database software.

  • Prefer experience with Great Plains.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains personnel files and records. Ensures files are complete and updated.
  • Responsible for taking phone calls and responding to emails related to a variety of questions and requests for information, including employment verifications for current and former employees.
  • Assists departments with filling temporary staffing assignments. Works with the temp agency to get assignments filled, processes invoices, and keeps a report of all temporary assignments.
  • Composes, edits and prepares letters, reports, correspondence, and other documentation as needed.
  • Coordinates all workers’ compensation claims, including reporting the incident to the insurance company, assisting the employee as needed, and maintaining records.
  • Maintains HR reports including EEOC/TCHR complaints, unemployment, tuition reimbursement, FTE, turnover and longevity reports.
  • Assists with the employee tuition assistance program.
  • Assists with employee benefit changes and summer enrollment including coordinating benefit presentations with administrators and assisting employees with benefits as needed.
  • Performs other administrative duties such as processing mail, data entry, and filing.
  • Serves as back-up for conducting new employee orientation, facilitating interviews, employee exit interviews and terminations.
  • Assists Human Resources Director with special projects as needed.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.
