Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit an HR Manager to join their team. Our client is a well-established mechanical services organization supporting commercial and industrial facilities across the Twin Cities and beyond. They operate in a fast-paced, operational environment and are known for combining the stability of a larger organization with the feel of a hands-on, local team. This is a highly visible, hands-on HR leadership role for someone who enjoys owning the day-to-day HR function while serving as a trusted advisor to both leadership and employees. The HR Manager will balance execution with thoughtful problem-solving, operating independently while driving progress, consistency, and trust across the organization. Success in this role requires strong presence, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, operational setting.

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees, responding to questions and concerns with clarity, consistency, and timeliness
  • Navigate employee relations matters with discretion, confidence, and sound judgment
  • Advocate for employees while balancing business needs and operational realities
  • Clearly communicate decisions and explain the “why” to build trust and understanding
  • Own core HR processes end-to-end, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle changes
  • Ensure HR policies, practices, and documentation are compliant, consistent, and practical
  • Partner closely with payroll, benefits, and accounting to ensure accurate execution and reporting
  • Build, improve, and standardize HR programs such as performance management, training, learning, and leadership development
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Optimize HRIS (Paylocity) and related systems to better support the business
  • Partner with managers as a coach and thought partner on performance, conduct, and people decisions
  • Guide leaders through difficult conversations, documentation, and decision-making
  • Serve as a steady, solutions-oriented HR presence for the organization
  • Support hiring efforts from intake through onboarding
  • Ensure a consistent, professional, and human candidate experience
  • Help leaders focus on long-term fit and success, not just filling open roles
  • Provide meaningful HR reporting and insights to leadership
  • Use data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Apply internal and external benchmarks to inform decisions
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally as a Senior HR Generalist or HR Manager
  • Broad HR generalist background with comfort operating across all functional areas
  • Strong judgment, communication skills, and ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism
  • Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal history background check
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employees in an operational or skilled-trades union environment strongly preferred
  • Competitive base salary
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage
  • Employer-matched 401(k)
  • Ongoing training, development, and safety programs
  • Opportunity to build a long-term career in a stable, growing organization
