About The Position

This Human Resources internship is designed to provide on-the-job training and experience. The HR Intern engages in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity, structured to enable the intern to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to perform at a professional level as an HR Representative. An HR Intern supports the Human Resources department by assisting with all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors or Master’s degree in Human Resources/ Organizational Development, Psychology or related degree from an accredited college or university
  • Must have current/most recent GPA of 3.00 or above
  • Must reside within a commutable distance of the office for this position and be responsible for your own transportation, such as personal vehicle or public transportation, to get to and from office.
  • Critical thinking and quantitative skills, strong technical aptitude, demonstrated quality service mindset and ability to navigate MS Office applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) with a high level of attention to detail
  • Operate with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold MEAG Power’s respectful and courteous work environment
  • Ability to establish a good working relationship with associates, customers, vendors, and service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support HR team by contributing to work focused on talent management, process optimization, learning and development, and technology implementations.
  • Recruitment Support: Posting job openings, pre-screening resumes, initiating background checks, and scheduling interviews.
  • Onboarding/Offboarding: Assisting with new hire paperwork, orientation, and exit processes.
  • HR Projects: Supporting HR team with research, reporting, and policy improvements.
  • Workflow Development: Documenting workflows and developing SOP’s
  • Learning and Development: Review training opportunities, schedule and manage employee development events
  • Provide HR support and guidance to employees, employment candidates and retirees
  • Participate in new technology implementation activities
  • Additional work assignments may include support with projects such as handbooks, policy development, and other foundational HR compliance items to enhance productivity and reduce liability.
