Sonesta interns will work in one of our corporate departments for a 10-week period. During this time, you will get to work on exciting projects whilst deepening your understanding of hospitality and learn how we bring our hotel experiences to life! There will be plenty of opportunities for continued learning and development along the way! This opportunity will be based in our corporate HQ in Newton, MA, Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm.

Requirements

  • You must be a current undergraduate student enrolled in a 4-year college or university program in Hospitality, or a related field that directly aligns to the opportunity.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • You’ll be available to work onsite 4 days per week at our corporate office location in Newton, MA.
  • Eager to learn, highly motivated, and willingness to be an active part of a team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in video production, media development, and digital content creation and editing

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a rotational internship across core Human Resources functions, including Recruiting, Training & Development, Benefits & Leave of Absence (LOA), HRIS, and General HR
  • Support recruiting efforts by assisting with job postings, candidate coordination, interview scheduling, and onboarding activities
  • Assist with training and development initiatives, including exposure to new hire orientation, session logistics and learning platforms
  • Support Benefits and LOA administration through data tracking and documentation support
  • Provide general HR support, including employee file maintenance, policy documentation, compliance-related tasks and exposure to employee relations processes
  • Assist with planning and coordinating employee events, engagement activities, and internal communications
  • Participate in HR team meetings and projects to gain exposure to HR strategy, operations, and best practices
  • Support special projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Assist with recruitment marketing initiatives, including maintaining the career site, creating recruiting flyers and materials, and supporting efforts to attract top talent
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
