About The Position

As an HR Intern at Grainger, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting our HR team and business partners. You'll work directly with the Director of HR on a meaningful summer project, participate in ongoing HR initiatives, and learn how HR drives business results in a Fortune 500 company.

Requirements

  • Current bachelor's or master's student (open to master's students entering their final year; bachelor's students encouraged to apply).
  • Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources (HR Generalist, HRBP, or other HR paths).
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills; experience with Excel and PowerPoint required, PowerBI a plus.
  • Curiosity and problem-solving mindset; able to analyze issues and propose solutions.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills; comfortable working with all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to innovate, iterate, and adapt to feedback.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Support and lead a defined summer project that addresses a real business need within the HR Customer Experience team.
  • Assist with HR programs and process improvements across the business.
  • Help analyze HR data and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Collaborate with HR team members and cross-functional partners (e.g., Talent, Compensation, Analytics, Legal).
  • Attend meetings and contribute to ongoing HR initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to the full spectrum of HR Generalist responsibilities.
