About The Position

Regional West Health Services is seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. This role supports key HR functions in a healthcare environment, including employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and HRIS processes. The HR Generalist ensures adherence to employment laws, CIHQ accreditation standards, and healthcare industry best practices. This position also serves as the primary backup to the Human Resources Business Partner and contributes to strategic initiatives that support workforce engagement, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 2–5 years of HR experience preferred, ideally within a healthcare or hospital setting.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and healthcare HR practices.
  • Knowledge of CIHQ accreditation requirements.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer-based work.
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities, including interacting with employees, applicants, and the public in a helpful and professional manner.
  • Ability to work with sensitive or potentially stressful information while maintaining composure.
  • Visual and motor proficiency needed to manage personnel files and HR documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • SPHR, PHR, or CHHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first backup to Human Resources Business Partner to support investigations, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in conflict resolution efforts while ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and policy alignment.
  • Conduct HR and employee file audits to ensure compliance with legal, HR, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC).
  • Assist in maintaining and updating HR policies and procedures in alignment with healthcare and CIHQ standards.
  • Support regulatory audits including CIHQ, Joint Commission, and other accreditation bodies.
  • Assist with documentation related to employment investigations and legal inquiries.
  • Run and compile compliance data reports (e.g., OIG, SAM, NMEP, etc.).
  • Serve as a resource for employees by directing benefits, payroll, and leave-related questions to the appropriate HR expert.
  • Assist in fit-for-duty, light duty, and transitional duty processes.
  • Process terminations, ensuring accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Provide support for unemployment claims and employer responses.
  • Create HR presentations and training materials for leaders and staff.
  • Assist with HR system updates, employee transfers, and HR process improvements.
  • Partner with hiring managers to facilitate recruitment and talent selection processes.
  • Support healthcare hiring requirements and ensure recruitment compliance.
  • Manage new hire onboarding tasks, including HRIS data entry and integrity checks.
  • Prepare compensation calculations and compliant offer letters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
