Dan & Jerry’s Greenhouses, located in Harrisonville, MO, is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional to join our growing team and business. Reporting to the VP of HR, this position will require knowledge and experience in all aspects of HR. Initial focus will be on recruiting seasonal and general laborers, employee relations, employee development, compliance and performance management. This is a hands-on position and rewarding position if you are interested in making a difference and an impact to the business. We have been a wholesale distributor of annuals, perennials, herbs, and vegetables since the 70’s. We partner with our retailers to support their garden centers throughout the Midwest, Northeast, and the South-Central regions of the United States. We currently grow products in 5 states, service more than 20 states and is the 11th largest greenhouse grower in the U.S.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in HR or similar field and 3+ years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
  • Proficient with PC’s and Office Suite software –Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience working with an HR/Payroll software.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Together, with the HR Team, support the organization with the HR needs through collaborative efforts with all employees.
  • Communicate, interpret and contribute to the Company’ policies & procedures, benefits, compensation, performance management, payroll ensuring legal compliance.
  • Build positive working relationship with all level of employees.
  • Handle employee relations confidentially and on a need to know basis.
  • Coach and mentor leaders and employees in creating an inclusive and team working environment.
  • Maintain the HRIS system to ensure accuracy of reporting & compliance.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for employee files, payroll, LOA’s, unemployment, etc.
  • Stay current on the company’s organizational structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices.
  • Lead and assist with special projects.
  • Develop relationships and build Dan & Jerry’s Greenhouses presence within the community.
  • Source applicants by using traditional and non-traditional recruiting methods to attract a higher caliber applicant pool.
  • Support VP of HR with coordination of H2A program and maintain record keeping.
  • As a back up to payroll processing, bi-weekly payroll with the highest degree of accuracy. Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions of taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
  • Response to basic benefit/payroll inquires in a timely manner.
  • Ensure employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately.
  • Review file feeds and ensure issues are addressed from HRIS to vendor portals for all benefit enrollment/changes/terminations.
