About The Position

Want to make an impact?Ferrara Candy Company’s Bellwood, IL manufacturing facility is seeking a strong HR Generalist to lead cultural change, build partnerships, develop others, and offer creative solutions to business issues. This is a true Generalist role with responsibilities for driving HR strategy, employee retention, employee engagement, employee relations, leadership development, training, and performance management.   The role offers the opportunity to join a high-performing HR team that plays a key role in supporting the site’s growth, strengthening leadership capability, and elevating the employee experience. The successful candidate will have meaningful visibility and influence, helping shape the next chapter of Bellwood’s evolution.     NOTE: This role requires onsite presence 5 days per week. Hours are 11 AM - 7 PM. 

Requirements

  • General knowledge of employment laws in COBRA, FMLA, DOL and OSHA
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills
  • Strong presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree required; PHR or SHRM-CP designation or master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in an HR role in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, PPT required.

Nice To Haves

  • AI knowledge driving HR efficiency strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cultural change and drive the plant HR strategy meeting established milestones:
  • Plan, execute and communicate round table & investigation initiatives including analysis, identify trends and drive action plans.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations under the leadership of the local HR Manager.
  • Lead & coordinate the new hire experience:
  • Lead the orientation experience at the highest level delivering engaging, high energy and interactive orientation sessions.
  • Lead employee engagement:
  • Lead the Engagement Committee driving membership to meet established goals
  • Plan, communicate and execute meaningful events for all employees by partnering with corporate groups and local community outreach.
  • Lead Performance Management:
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, training, mentoring, career development, Progressive Disciplinary Policy).
  • Workforce Planning:
  • Partners with leadership to ensure budgeted headcount is adhered to.
  • Drive Fill Rate for hourly positions to meet established target.
  • Challenge the organizational structure and existing process and procedures; propose changes as needed.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
  • Actively identify gaps, propose and implement changes necessary to mitigate risks.
  • Assist in creation and facilitation of management training programs.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and other departmental files in a neat, organized and secure and confidential manner
  • Lead by example in demonstrating the Company’s operating principles
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, GMP and safety standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support Ferrara Candy Company business objectives
