The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for fostering a positive and productive work environment and will provide client-centered support for day-to-day Human Resources (HR) needs and acts as an initial HR contact, including but not limited to employee relations, retention, policy interpretation, and resource management. The HR Generalist is an essential role within the HR and Employee Relations Team, ensuring compliance with university policies and all federal, state, and local employment laws. The role serves as a resource for employees and people leaders. The HR Generalist requires strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills to address workplace concerns, facilitate conflict resolution, and promote a culture of inclusivity and fairness. This position involves time-sensitive work in accurately diagnosing organizational issues and implementing action plans. The HR Generalist will partner with HR Leadership and support the performance management system process, which will include goal setting and annual evaluations. This key role will also support the professional development and program development for individual contributors and people leaders. Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations & Human Resources Business Partner, provides cross-functional support in a variety of activities to meet departmental goals and objectives. The role requires well-developed verbal and written skills to present and exchange information, which is technical, complex, and sensitive to all faculty, staff, and students on campus. This position plans and carries out work independently and with minimum supervision, is responsible for prioritizing and managing issues within the designated area of responsibility, and is responsible for managing work and multiple projects with overlapping tasks to meet objectives, deadlines, and assignments.
