About The Position

The HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting and executing NMAC’s human resources strategy across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR operations. This role serves as a primary point of contact for staff and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations matters, and best practices. The HR Generalist ensures consistent application of policies, strengthens organizational culture, and supports initiatives that enhance employee engagement, equity, and operational effectiveness.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms
  • 4–6 years of progressive HR experience
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws required

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience handling employee relations matters and advising managers preferred
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefits administration
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides guidance and support to managers and staff across HR functions
  • Addresses workplace concerns with professionalism and discretion
  • Ensures adherence to employment laws and internal policies
  • Executes and improves HR processes across the employee lifecycle
  • Maintains HRIS data integrity and supports reporting and analysis
  • Handles sensitive information with sound judgment and professionalism
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned roles, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination
  • Partner with hiring managers to support equitable and inclusive hiring practices
  • Lead onboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and engaging new hire experience
  • Maintain recruitment systems, pipelines, and reporting metrics
  • Maintain and audit employee records, HRIS systems, and personnel files
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions (hires, promotions, changes, separations)
  • Partner with Finance on payroll coordination and benefits administration
  • Respond to and resolve employee HR inquiries in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and workflows
  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance management, coaching, and documentation
  • Support investigations and resolution of workplace concerns in alignment with policy
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and organizational culture efforts
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and mission-aligned work environment
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Interpret and apply HR policies consistently across the organization
  • Maintain audit-ready HR documentation and records
  • Support policy development, updates, and staff training
  • Assist with risk mitigation and compliance-related initiatives
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollment and changes
  • Serve as liaison with benefits providers and external vendors
  • Maintain HR dashboards, reports, and workforce data analytics
  • Support HRIS enhancements, implementations, and data integrity efforts
  • Support performance management cycles, including goal setting and reviews
  • Coordinate and facilitate HR-related trainings and onboarding sessions
  • Assist in leadership development and staff capacity-building initiatives
  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts and programs
