About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role includes recruiting and onboarding employees; administering compensation, payroll coordination, benefits, leaves of absence, and employee records; and ensuring consistent application and enforcement of company policies, procedures, and employment practices. The HR Generalist serves as a resource to employees and management, supporting compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and promoting positive employee relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and supports payroll processes, compensation changes, benefits enrollment, and leaves of absence (including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other applicable programs).
  • Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Interprets, applies, and enforces company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Provides guidance to management and employees on HR-related matters, employee relations issues, and workplace conduct.
  • Supports performance management processes, including documentation, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Assists with investigations, compliance audits, and corrective action processes as needed and with confidentiality.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, new technologies in human resources, and talent management.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
