About The Position

Enjoy helping people and creating a positive work environment? The Human Resources Generalist will act as the frontline HR representative for all employees at BCRTA. The HR Generalist will be responsible for providing applicants and employees with excellent customer service and problem resolution while always maintaining strict confidentiality of information. Duties include but are not limited to communication with all employees regarding benefits, compensation, handbook compliance, attendance, FMLA, etc., filing, tracking monthly HR statistics, compliance with EEO requirements, accident file audits, new hire onboarding and drug and alcohol program compliance. This description should not be construed to contain every function/responsibility that may be required to be performed by an employee in this job. Employees are required to perform other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instruments.

  • Ability to multitask in a quick-paced environment with accuracy.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication ability.
  • Demonstrates excellent command of the English language.

  • Poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to perform simple math.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Applicable experience in HR functions.
  • Associates degree with four years of HR experience or a bachelor’s degree and two years of HR experience.
  • Constant periods of hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision.
  • Frequent periods of speaking and sitting.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree focus in HR, business, sociology, or psychology preferred.
  • Experience with Paycom or other HR management software.
  • HRCI, PHR or SHRM certification.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively maintains, secures, and files confidential records.
  • Maintains an understanding of BCRTA policies and procedures.
  • Distributes the employee handbook as needed.
  • Collects, analyzes, updates, and distributes all HR records as needed including but not limited to position descriptions, evaluation documents, job postings, and governmental forms.
  • Manages all processes related to unemployment compensation, Worker’s Compensation, disability and FMLA
  • Assist with the hiring, onboarding, and orientation process.
  • Attends outside training as needed.
  • Represents BCRTA at conferences, hiring events, community involvement events and any other business organization that is associated with BCRTA as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with BCRTA personnel and contract partners to ensure efficient personnel functions and distribute required information.
  • Prioritizes communications and responses to provide superior customer service.
  • Responsible for tracking monthly HR statistics, compliance with EEOC, accident file audits, new hire onboarding, and the drug and alcohol program compliance.
  • Maintains composure and acts thoughtfully under pressure.
  • Promotes a positive public image of BCRTA and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Requests time off as required by BCRTA policy.
  • Assists management with special projects.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining SOP’s and workflows for all HR practices.
